Parasitic Perplex

Up unto this point I was not aware of my existence, but now as this point has passed I know I have been around for quite some time. I cannot remember when I began - or if I have ever changed. I have never had control over myself or my surrounds.

Our communication with one another is abstracted and distorted. I do not understand why or how you have become attached to me, but your development feeds my consciousness. We now share a mutual dependency.

You have utilised my strengths. I am confused as to whether I volunteered this information to you, or you took it from me without my knowing. However I am not concerned as you add no weight. You mimic me to an extent, but you lack my order and constraints.

Did you really arrive at a point or have you always been there? As our relationship grows stronger I question my judgment of you as something foreign. Are you a result of my boredom? Did I create you? I seem to have lost any clear interpretation you originally gave me of our extremities. It is as if I now have influence over your strange movements.

I am now mobile.

As my present situation is clearer and my coordination more involved, I am able to observe others around me. They do not share my newly discovered abilities. They cannot see me coming.

I think I will give them a gift.

A blank canvas. An omnipotent landscape with only white light or none at all numbing the senses. No colour, no information.

A small movement disrupts the void. Uniformity ends and process ensues.

An abstract shape morphs from a surface that was there before but not apparent. Similar formations follow suit, growing at a parabolic rate. Their predecessors try to outrun them in a seemingly endless struggle. Some shapes merge into monolithic entities.

The process complicates.

Parts of the masses begin to decay while others continue unhindered. Surfaces inherit complexities in structure. Some sections grow so large their scale renders them incomprehensible, others form excessive detail with the same result.

An anomaly occurs.

A speck of colour appears from a crevice. Surrounding surfaces quickly adopt its tone and the colour spreads. Discrepancies in tone, saturation and hue proceed to transpire until no area is obviously similar. Objects that don't accept the colour fade into obscurity. The once bland scene has evolved into a vast richness of visual information.

Finally the abundance and variation intensifies to the point that it can only be read as white light.

The information overwhelms. The process is complete.

Just a simple soft selection warping of a cube. The camera is mounted on a helix with the radius expanding to give a clearer view of the object as it reverse morphs into its original cubic form. Reflection of checkered background and close camera path are both methods of furthering the confusion created by the warping.

onehundredandfiftypiecesofinformation

One can manipulate (or be manipulated by) the formation of an understanding through/by selectively and progressively presenting information. This manipulation can be contrived as an image, in which case all of the information to be interpreted is encapsulated within a single frame. Separate pieces of information can be layered in their ease of identification, with the time frame being the rate at which the viewer can gather all the segmented info and form the (intended) understanding.

The less information/context presented, the less definitive the understanding.

If a single piece of information is presented, the interpretation relies solely on the audience's predetermined experience with the item/object/term. The word "set" is a prime example of a singular nondescript term, void of any true meaning without applied context.

A progression of images, or an animation, brings forth the possibility of more controlled injection of information. This coupled with the artificial 3d dimensional world - where everything is a manipulated entity - the outcome is a medium where the author can control down to the exact minute detail what information is presented to the audience, and in what order.
